About us

Dr. Tonydr-tony-breitbach-125

I’ve been a chiropractor in private practice since 2004 and have done more continuing education and gotten more certifications than most chiropractors get in a lifetime, including Active Release Full Body Practitioner, Kinesiotape, National Academy of Sports Medicine Corrective Exercise Specialist and Performance Enhancement Specialist.

I started triathlon in 2008, and in the past two years I’ve done 5 triathlons and I’m pretty sure that at 6′11″, I’m the tallest tri guy out there.  I plan on doing a half Ironman in September of 2009 and a full Ironman in September of 2010.

I’ve had this idea about riding across the US since my freshman year of college, but it was simply a dream. The more I think about life the more I realize you get one go ’round.  I don’t want to be 80 years old thinking, “Man, I sure wish I would have done that bike ride I dreamed about since high school.”  So even though it’s going to be hard to leave a practice and patients I love and am inspired by, it’s just something I have to do.

I’m not much of a “cyclist” — I’m just a guy who rides his bike to work (and everywhere else!) every day in Denver. It takes me about 8 minutes to ride 1.5 miles to the office, where I spend my days working for Big City Mountaineers, a Denver-based nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the lives of under-resourced urban teens through transformative outdoor experiences. I help run our fundraiser, Summit For Someone, so my days are taken up mostly talking about climbing mountains. I’m hoping the weekends I spend climbing, and the 1.5 miles I ride to work every day, translate into enough training for a 3,100-mile bike ride across America. I’ll also be purchasing my first-ever pair of proper cycling shorts for this trip.

  7. I just stumbled upon your blog (via the Salvagetti FB page) and am glad I did. You just left the area that I’m originally from (SE Texas). You described it to a tee! I’m glad you escaped and met some nice people along the way, too. I’m looking forward to following your escapades.
